Had an email from Martini Rick the other day saying " I had an accident on Saturday and won't be able to make the shoot." I had vision of Rick banging up his car so I sent a message back saying what what kind of accident and are you and yours alright? Imagine my surprise to get this response. "It was a motorcycle accident. I race bikes and had a mishap on the track. Another racer fell right in front of me and I hit his bike at about 70 mph.. I was thrown from my motorcycle and landed on my head. It's fairly serious. I have two crushed vertebrae, a broken collar bone and three broken ribs. Not to mention all the bruises. I go to see my doctor on Wednesday, but the doctor at the hospital said I would probably be off work at least a month and may need some physical therapy. Right now I'm pretty much bed ridden. A little bit of television and the lap top is about it for the time being." Rick you get well/mended and stay off motorcycles they only have two wheels and tip over... As a fellow rider, I can appreciate how lucky Rick was to come out of that one with all limbs attached and toes wiggling. Good luck for a speedy recovery. Michael I've never heard anyone complain about "too much quality" in a gun, but too little will get you a trip to the ER with your spare fingers in a baggie.

I'm somewhat back in the saddle again. Spent two months in physical therapy and have to do special exercises every morning. I'm healing up SLOWLY. The "pins and needles" feeling in my right hand finally went away so I thought I would try shooting about three weeks ago. BIG mistake! My neck and shoulder hurt for a week. Went back to work the beginning of last week. Since sick pay was so little, we made some cuts to the budget till I got back to work, which included the internet. Now I got almost three months of postings here to catch up on! Needless to say the wife has banned me from any future flat track racing.

Just take it easy keep up the exercises and don't rush things just let the body repair itself at its own speed. If you must shoot just leave the Elephant gun on the wall! Pinky It is not a gun. Still can't pull a bow back, thankfully Michigan just legalized crossbows for hunting. My brother cocks it for me before I go out. I can handle a .22lr as far as shooting but any heavier recoil is painful on the neck. I took the road bike out for a spin a few weeks ago and the road bumps played hell on my back. Probably will not be doing any ice racing this year.

Grandpa was a flattrack racer in the '50s & '60s. Dad was a professional flattrack racer in the '60s, '70s & '80s. I got my professional license in '89. I very rarely crash, but when I do its usually a good one.

It can be long but shoot what you can and dont get too hung up on that 'old' self image of who you have been. You are still alive and life is good. Sergeant Major Posts: 374 (10/11/09 17:20:23) Lance Sergeant Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	just piping in here Rick with a well wish n glad to here your i wont say "ok" but slowly getting better . i lost my best friend to a motorcycle accident ( he was good people,he was hit on his harley by a drunk driver that had his licence taken away for a previous dui) and am glad you are improving, it all will come in time there was a guy with pins and mesh in back and neck that wnt to the top of everst. i quite the road bikes and have switched to hurting myself on a mountain bike , doa ice racing yikes!!!!
