For some years now I have been shooting a BSA Australian Cadet Rifle. My usual load is 7.8 grains of 2400 under a cast CBE 120 grain lead bullet. However I
have a large quantity of Unique powder that I would like to use up. Has anyone got loads for this powder using the 120 grain bullet? Thanks.

I have gone up to 4.5 grains of Unique with the RCBS bullet, but I usually load lighter. I had a lot of Bullseye on hand after we lost the pistols, so for the
last 10 years my standard load for the .310 has been 3.2 grains of Bullseye.

Thanks to both of you. The Unique is also from my pistol shooting days. I was always a revolver man. I had four or five revolvers at any one time but only one
pistol. I would go to our range alone early on Sunday morning when I had a dual cylinder .357/ 9mm Blackhawk, S&W M19 snubbie, S&W Highwaypatrolman M28
( Changed for a S&W 586 later) and a S&W M 18 in .22. I would shoot away at clays in the buts at distances from seven to twenty five yards. The bulky
Unique was to prevent me loading a double charge by mistake. I loaded .38 Specials and .357 Mag. almost by the ton. I dumped the empties into a cardboard box
to be used again. My pistols started with a Ruger Mk I, then a Star Model B, changed to a S&W M59, changed again for a Browning Hi-Power. (Before I
surrendered the Browning I shot all the goodnes
out of it with heavy Blue Dot loads.) Later still I swaped everything except the M586 and the Hi-Power and the black powder revolvers for two Colt SAA clones in .44-40 and .45. Today I have an Uberti 1860 .44 Army, an Uberti .36 1851 Navy and a Pedersoli Charles Moore .45 single shot pistol. However to wave two digits to the powers that be, I also have a Beaumont Adams, S&W New Model No3 single action, A S&W Model 1881 double action and a S&W New Model No 1-1/2. ( Looking for a S&W Model 2.) Happy days! Gwyn |

I have used 4.2 gr. of Unique and like it. The target is from my second outing with my Cadet. I don't see too well any more and don't do well with iron sights, but at 50 yards, I think this is acceptible. Bill

In 1997 my .22 target pistols were a Hammerli single shot and a Browning Target 150. The centre-fire target pistol was a SIG P210, with a .30 Luger barrel for
UIT, a 9mm barrel if there was a power threshold and a .22 barrel for disk competitions. I was getting used to a S&W N frame in .32 S&W (don't
ask) when they all went. For Police Pistol I was using a S&W 19 4" and a S&W 27 6". I was also shooting historic pistols for fun: a Colt
Police Positive in .38, an Enfield in .38 and with a .22 conversion unit, a Webley Mk VI in .455 and with a 22 conversion unit, and a S&W MkII converted
from .455 to .45 Colt. Throw in the replacement variations from the CO2 Hammerli air pistols that came off certificate at the same time and I ended up with 17
variation slots to fill.
When I handed everything in it was to a police officer who was also a shooter. As I was leaving I said "See you around", then corrected myself, saying " Maybe not, as we'll not be pistol shooting again". His reply was "Yes we will. The bastard are not going to make me give up". It almost raised a smile. Bringing us back closer to topic - these days when I load .310 cases I wonder how I managed loading so many tiny pistol cases, Snider, M-H and .500 Express are so much easier to handle (although .297/230 is another story). Mind you the ammunition cabinets fill up a lot quicker these days. Roy |

Searching my records yet again !!
My best load using Unique was : 4.20g under a 122g RCBS bullet coated in liquid alox. Primer was CCI400. Case length 27.50mm. Rested 5 shot group size was 1.75" ( sorry for the mix of metric and real measurements !! ). Velocity was 965fps and velocity spread an unbelievable 10fps. This was a favourite load !! Dave R

My pet load is the 120gn Heeled CBE bullet, teflon coated by REDBACK projectiles, sized to 317in. Powder is 3.5gn of ADI AP70n (analogue of unique) with a Win
small pistol primer. Gives MOA at 50m and rings the gong monotonously at 300m.
Love the cartridge, love the rifle, honest and reliable. Chrispy |

Good evening;
Several years ago, this forum hosted what was perhaps the First International Internet Miniature Martini Rifle Shoot. It was a blast! Since that time, I built up a sporter 310 cadet as a full stocked, scoped rifle. It is among my favorites. One bullet that I really like is the DKT Flat Nosed Lead Bullet at 100 grains. I buy them at Huntingtons, at exhorbitant prices. They should be a fine game bullet, and I intend to use them on our local overpopulation of Nutria. Ed |
