I have a swedish rolling block that is in 8x58 danish.. Had it two yeras now, been thinking on what caliber to change it to,Action is tight, trigger pull is fine, the wood thats on it could stand to be refinished. 8x15x46R comes to mind, or the 38 special loaded with 200 grain bullets or better yet a .44 special. I'll mostlikely be shooting cast bullets in it and don't see the need for such a lomh barrel. Maybe 26" at best. Any suggestions/ comments. All of those cartridges operate way below the 28,000 psi limit and one of them should fill the bill.I could use the forend providing I kept the origional barrel profile at least at the breech end.

The first question that comes to mind is why? Is the bore a sewer pipe? What do you wish to do with it? The 8x58 cartridge is a good round, albeit one that requires handloading. Unless the bore is shot I'd vote for leaving it in its original condition.

Actually the rifle in question is in very nice shape, no rust, has the humped buttstock instead of the straight one and the bore is in what I would call very good to excellent condition. Been sitting in my den and every time I see I think "what if". Came from simpson's about a year ago. Thought I could either rebarrel or get it relined into a more common caliber. Thanks for the replies. Frank
