In www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpelejTnquI 'The Bloke' shows it being used as a BP bullet lubricant without ill effects. Metal soaps used to be used in later 19th century bullet greases (eg Westley Richards own formulas with a lead soap). What do others think?
A chemist tried valiantly to get me to understand something about the differences in mineral oil/wax's hydrocarbon chains and suggested that only the more complex will be turned to the alleged 'black tar'. Certainly real paraffin wax is safe to include in bullet grease recipes.
