Posts: 3 Jan 6 06 3:38 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None I have an H. Pieper falling block rifle. Specific caliber?? Barrel and left side of lever when dropped is stamped 320 It is a rimfire. Can anyone identify this cartridge for me and is ammunition available?

Short history of the 320 Rimfire: starting as rimfire cartridge by Smith and Wesson, around 1868 a center fire cartridge with allmost the same measurments startet in britain as 320 short center fire - this cartridge was produced as 32 short colt in the USA and the brass is now available again after 10 or more years. Dixi gun works have lathe turned reloadable brass 32 short and long rimfire. this brass is primed with a 6 mm Flobert(BB Cap) Blank placed outside of the center as possible. Have make a test here for a 9mm Flobert garden gun last december. have take 32 S&W long brass and drill a hole in the middle of the base for the 6mm Flobert blank. the firing pin was able to hit the 6mm blank rim. order some Dixi brass cases to see how they work and make a test with 32 short colt brass drilled out for 6mm blanks if the firing pin is working in the same way in your gun. only a absolut beginner convert a rimfire gun in a center fire gun.

Pieper" in belgium is not the world's best brand name-they made tons of flobert's that were sold by Sears & Robuck in the 1890's-the cheapest "trade gun" made-had to be made for under $5.00 to escape the stiff us protective tarriff for any guns over that value-see "American boys rifles" by perkins.So i don't think it would be worth it to fool with it, you see.

But I dont care if an old gun was cheap or expensive, havnt the rigth to destroy, in my eyes , an old gun because its a little bit tricky to get ammo. Sorry, only my own opinion, you are free to do what you like.

I have heard of lots of various rimfire rifles fitted with a center fire breech block for using reloadable cartridges. Simply keep the original breech block and use it for display/resale/originality purposes and use the new made block for shooting the thing. No harm done, and it can now be loaded for without a lot of trouble. I would do this without hesitation. -Ryan

If its the 32 short or long rimfire he can use 32 short colt ammo with a center fire block without any other change. If he like to shot the gun with reloadable rimfire cases I am allways willing to help.

It certainly is not a piece of quality workmanship but it is a piece of history and shootable. I am interesed in the Dixie adapter arrangement and any other possibilities.
