This pistol has set me wondering as there are no outward inspectors markings.
Pretty well everything I've read here makes note of these and I'm wondering why they are absent in this case.
Overall it's an untouched sleeper, never having been taken apart. All steel is a lovely dark brown aged patina, the lock crisp and solid and while the screws are free turning, the old grease is so sticky and has such a grip that it takes a while.
London proofs on the barrel and another small stamp which I'm not sure what it is.
A little bruising to the timber and regrettably a few small chop and pick marks here and there.
Internal lock markings are - large K5, smaller 3I and CW. On the rammer spring tip is JP.
What date did this pattern come into EIC service and who were CH and JP?
Any suggestion for this mark? It's not another partial proof mark is it?
