I received one of the Francotte parts guns from IMA, and I'm pretty surprised by the condition. The clearing rod and rear sight are gone, and the butt
stock is chipped and loose. This all looks like old damage. And the forestock is shattered, which looks more recent, like shipping damage maybe. All in all,
it's in really pretty good shape. The action is gummy but functional, much better than I'd hoped. However, the underside of the barrel looks like the
far side of the moon.
The 'untouched' Francotte I got with it is even better. It's apparently all complete and functional. Once I take it apart for a good cleaning, I'll know if I need any parts from the parts gun, but I don't think so.
So, the parts gun will go into the project pile. A sporter barreled in something fun, maybe, like .442 or some other caliber that's equally impossible to find.
So, has anyone slugged the bore of one of these Nepalese Francottes to check for proper bullet diameter? Are they as small as the Gahendra?
