When I cleaned up a Gahendra years ago, I held the wood very high over a gas burner and the wood sweated out nearly its weight in oil. I kept wiping off the
droplets that came to the surface. It cleaned up quite nicely. Congrats.

Ok Lets put it back together
Put lever catch and the trigger on
Put trigger spring on
Put the hammer spring on
Do not put sling swivel on like I did
The next thing is the hammer extractor, and lever They line up like this
Slip the hammer spring under the the hand on the hammer
Pull the lever down
Insert the breach block
now put the sling swivel on
hope this helps ,look for updates

Thanks for the pics Norm. Looks like the quality of worksmanship on the Gahendra is considerably higher than average for Nepalese made weapons.

Beautiful cleanup, Norm! What are you using to clean/treat/refinish the metal? The parts look like new.

My Gahendra just arrived! Looks to be in about the average condition. The breech opens and closes easily enough, but I get nothing with a trigger pull.
I'll have to tear it down and see what the problem is. Only major problem I see so far is the chip out of the stock near the rather rusty tang.
Hey Norm! I'm sure curious about your clean up method, I'll bet others are too! I'm going to TRY to post a picture. Yall realize, this is my first picture post attempt here! Bilbo |

Mine is arriving tomorrow! While quite experienced with earlier styles of firearms, this is my first cartridge weapon. I'd also love to know what you
used to clean yours up.

Okay, Norm ain't talking about his cleaning method, so in my normal SAG/SWAG fashion, I'll say he's using a carding wheel. Now he will have to tell
us to prove me wrong!!!
