Yesterday morning I kept looking at the clock, thinking about the opening of the Somme offensive, 1916, and how the casualty list was rapidly growing, and how
many young lads were down by breakfast time.
About 57,000 casualties in the day, most sustained in the first couple of hours.
I know I've mentioned it here before, but what with Canada day, sometimes it gets a bit forgotten.
Richard.
