Pukka,
I quite agree that the BBC should reissue these classic programmes on DVD. Robert Churchill died in June 1958 and I think that Hastings made the series as a
homage to his friend. I have just dug out my copy of Macdonald Hastings' book " The Other Mr. Churchill" published in 1963, five years after
Robert Churchill's death. I bought it about 10 years ago at Prospect Books here in north Wales for 28 pounds. It is a book that I keep diping into now and
again. I also...

I do not remember the series with Macdonald Hastings and Robert Churchill, though I Do remember both of them.
It would be very interesting to see it aired again, as with "the Gun" series (which I do remember)
If not aired, then sold off by the BBC to an interested party.
I think DVD's of these series would go very nicely!

Hi Bill I was not aware of the issue you & Chris had on that, but I can well imagine. I recollect that there are a few priceless pieces of footage in the
series such as you mention. Another involved the recoil of a double barrel elephant gun sending the firer off balance - I gather that they cut the footage of
the second barrel being unintentially fired just as the point of balance was going.... My favourite is a pepperbox pistol having a crossover fire, whereby

acknowledgment from the programme that MLAGB were involved but, for some unknown reason, Chris absolutely would not despite the fact that our members were very
much involved. One part involved firing an original Chassepot and I was the only one who had a number of modern French made cartridges for it. I donated them
