Two days ago I took my Webley to the range and can proclaim the whole affair rather a success. Mine is one of the Mark I's upgraded in 1914 and is also
shaved for .45 ACP. Thanks to the many warnings here, I assembled some handloads for it rather than subject it to .45 ACP pressures. Not having the proper
molds, I cast 255 grain LSWC's for it using Lyman's #454424 that I usually use in my .45 Colt. Lube was liquid alox as this has proven to eliminate
leading for me with my .45...

Thanks to all who gave me information. The job took me several hours; it would have taken a lot less if I knew my way around Webleys better. But I was able
to peen about halfway up the right side of the solid stop, which raised the top about 15 to 20 thou. I had to re-shape the back radius a little, but the
peening hadn't shifted the stop laterally like I thought it might, so I didn't have to do any alignment adjustment. The job was a complete success,

So I was messing around with my Mark 1 last night and noticed an alarming problem. All the timing issues I read about with Webleys refer to the possibility of
parts wear not allowing the cylinder to advance far enough before locking of the cylinder tries to occur. I have exactly the opposite problem. If I slow down
my double-action manipulation of the trigger to get a nice controlled stroke, any hesitation during the trigger pull sends the cylinder free-spinning past the

I recently acquired a shaved Mark 1. It is my first Webley, and I believe I've exhausted the archives here and elsewhere for more information. My Webley
has the two "stars" after the "Mark 1", with "1914 stamped underneath. It is navy marked ("N") on the hump and has the
broad arrows in profusion to include the large one on the topstrap. My research indicates that the two stars should mean it has a replacement Mark V cylinder

Not for sure what the chambering was, but it looked to be somewhat larger than .45, and not as big as .577. The owner had never fired it, and removed it from
